The stories of Francisco Sionil Jose are called from Filipino life and are clear windows to the humanity of a person striving for justice and well being. “Puppy Love” wrote in the year March 15, 1998. These stories are worth to read, because it is called love that many people are relate to this topic. Some are also charming episodes on growing up and discovering. Francisco Sionil Jose is best known for his Rosales Saga. Sionil Jose writes English prose with a passion that, at its best moments, transcends the immediate scene, He is a masterful short story writer.

This story I want here with others and read it for themselves.The Puppy Love, written by Francisco Sionil Jose. This is what I know, that I fell in love with the story that first time I read it. I really admire how the author twisted the scenes and the story itself is, indeed, is very touching. Our classroom's are noisy when we’re reading this story, it’s because they relate about the topic is all about love and everyone understand what the story is all about. Everyone was interested. And best of all, Everyone is about to say that what why they not meant to be in the future.

"The attraction of the opposite sex does not start at puberty; it starts much earlier judging from own feelings at the time, although, of course,  it was a feeling so undefined and yet so tender and as real as breathing." The story is about to say that time will come but not in the right place, not in your dreams and it’s not about what you think because true love is in the end.

The main characters are; Jacobo Salcedo a.k.a Jake a successful and rich lawyer, but came from a poor family in a bamboo house at San Jacinto. His father is a raised fighting cocks; a drunkard  and his mother is a sells fish/salt; plays jueteng. Gina Garcia a.k.a. Gina Reyes is a hostess, has a brownish hair, mestiza, dark eyes, nice voice, fluent in Spanish, loves to read novels especially  romances. Wuthering Heights came from a rich family who owns a big hacienda (San Jacinto) but lost their wealth due to war, their debts & his father's mistresses & illegitimate children. Those main character is the one how the center of the story, makes the key decisions, and experiences the consequences of those decisions. The main characters' circumstances as well, as they are often the primary actor propelling the story forward. The minor characters are; Lito Garcia, Gina's older brother; mestizo Jacobo's best friend and  classmate during elementary. Carlos Cobello is an owner of Cobello Fortune (law firm) Jacobo's best friend since college one of the country's richest man. Jenny is a manila girl who studied college in California. Looks like Gina, Jake (40) married Jenny (20) because she looked like Gina, but as time goes on, he really learned to love her truly. Those characters are the one to support what is the story meaning to the readers.

The setting is in the town of San Jacinto when there a children there a rich and poor that go to the same public school to learn and play together. The Garcia Family was the wealthiest in town. Antonio Garcia was the patriarch. The story called "PUPPY LOVE" because it refers to falling in love at a very young age. The feeling was there for a long time, but it wasn't a TRUE LOVE after all. The theme of the story is disregarding social differences in terms of expressing true love. 

The hardly coming twice, but when Jacobo met Gina again, he should have revealed himself to her right away and tell her about his feelings. But he just wasted every opportunity to tell her whenever they are together.  Until the time came that everything is lost and he cannot find her anymore. Nothing lasts forever, no matter, we say that the love of Jacobo lasted for so many years, still he ended up marrying another girl whom he didn’t love at first but soon, he learned to love him more. Until the time came that he completely forget about his feelings for Gina and became faithful and loyal to Jenny. Life goes on, there must be no regrets because life must go on and we have to face each new day with hope. We should be thankful for everything that happens to us good or bad because through this, we become mature to handle situations & learn lessons in life and love.

"It is good to be merry & wise; it's good to be merry & true. It is well to be off with the old love Before you go on with the new". In the end true love works with two people who fall in love with each other. Sometimes love and destiny are the tandem and work to be one. Puppy Love is a love that every person has an experience of it. Puppy Love is a step of being in love with a person, but it's not a person that you want in your future life or family. A love can wait, but true love is the one who searching you and that's what God with Love. A love that you can wish, at that that every person want in this world, a love that never give up on the person that they love. Beauty is first and true love will end, a childhood memory is the who believed as one of the way to go in the end your love.
